What forms of payment are accepted?
Credit & Debit Cards
Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

Do you accept insurance?
No, this is an out-of-network practice. I do not bill insurance directly, and standard insurance plans are not accepted for direct payment. However, some insurance plans might offer partial reimbursement for sessions. See Reimbursement FAQ below for more information and guidance.
Can I get reimbursed using out-of-network insurance benefits?
Yes, depending on your health insurance policy. If you have a PPO plan with out-of-network benefits, your insurance provider may reimburse a portion of your therapy costs. See Reimbursement FAQ below for more information and guidance.
-
Being out-of-network means I do not have a contract with insurance companies.
Some clients with “out-of-network benefits” are able to obtain partial reimbursement for therapy costs through their insurance company.
-
You may be able to find this information in your Summary of Benefits, typically available through your insurance company’s online portal.
The most reliable way to confirm your benefits is to call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health therapy?
What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much remains?
What percentage of therapy costs are reimbursed after the deductible is met?
What is the allowed amount for CPT codes 90834 and 90837?
Is preauthorization required for outpatient psychotherapy?

Upon request, I can provide a “superbill,” which is a detailed receipt of the payments you’ve made to North Star Therapy, that you may then submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Clients may also use external resources like Reimbursify, a low-cost filing service that helps simplify the reimbursement process. Clients can upload their superbill directly, and Reimbursify submits claims on their behalf.
Because coverage varies widely by plan, I recommend contacting your insurance company to confirm your out-of-network benefits prior to submitting claims/filing for reimbursement.

A superbill is a detailed receipt for therapy services that includes the information insurance companies typically require for reimbursement.
I provide superbills upon request for clients who would like to seek reimbursement from their insurance company.

Reimbursement varies widely depending on your insurance plan. Some clients receive substantial reimbursement, while others may receive little or none.
If you have out-of-network benefits, most plans require you to meet a deductible first. After that, insurance typically reimburses a percentage of a standard “allowed amount” set by your insurance company, which may differ from the therapist’s session fee.
For example, if your plan’s allowed amount is $140 and your reimbursement rate is 60%, your insurance company would reimburse $84 per session after your deductible is met.
-
I provide superbills, which clients may submit directly to their insurance company.
Clients may also choose to use third-party platforms like Reimbursify to simplify the submission process.
Whether submitting claims directly to insurance or through a platform like Reimbursify, clients manage submissions independently.
